Nokia: chosen by Open Fiber in Italy

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has said that it has been selected by the Italian broadband operator Open Fiber to launch fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), which will bring ultra-fast broadband services to small towns and rural areas in Italy.

"The Open Fiber network will bring optical fiber from a point of presence to the customer's home and deliver speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps)," said the Finnish telecom equipment supplier.

Nokia says it has been selected to "deliver products, services and software needed to plan, design, deploy and support the end-to-end active network infrastructure based on GPON technologies".
