Nokia: completes 5G pilot outdoor with Singapore's StarHub
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia, together with Singapore's telecom operator StarHub, have completed an outdoor pilot scheme to showcase the possibilities of 5G to boost enterprise and consumer services.
The companies have completed the first outdoor pilot of 5G New Radio on 3.5GHz frequency band over 'live' 5G cells and core network technology at StarHub's headquarters in Singapore.
Separately, Nokia said it was collaborating with mobile operator Smart Communications and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to bring LTE-connected drones and a portable network into disaster-struck areas.
For this purpose, a team of 25 Nokia employees have been trained to become technical experts to serve as volunteers in the Red Cross organisation, the Finnish company said.
