Nokia: to deploy 4.5G technology for Lebanon's Alfa
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia said it will deploy its 4.
5G technology for Lebanon's biggest mobile operator Alfa in a test for Alfa to prepare its network to eventually offer 5G services, the Finnish company said.
The deployment follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding earlier this year, with Nokia having defined a clear path to 5G through 4.5G Pro and 4.9G.
Alfa, which belongs to Egyptian telecoms giant Orascom, plans to deploy the country's first 5G network in 2019.
This higher-speed broadband will enable data-hungry applications, such as ultra high definition video streaming, e-health and e-education, as well as Internet of Things (IOT) and smart cities projects.
