Nokia: tests 5G technology with Orange in Poland
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has completed a large-scale trial in collaboration with Orange in Poland to prepare for future 5G networks, the Finnish telecoms equipment maker said on Tuesday.
The trial was held from March until the beginning of May, with radio sites in the city of Chelm and a virtualised part of a data centre in Lublin, around 70 km away.
Both companies trialed a distributed, cloud-based radio access network architecture to prepare Orange for the deployment of new 5G access technology as part of a multi-layered architecture.
In the end, Nokia's base stations proved to be equally strong on both Nokia's reference cloud infrastructure and on Orange's own cloud environment, the company said.
