Nokia: selected by EDF for Internet of Things project
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has been selected by French power utility EDF to test Internet of Things (IoT) technology for industries, the Finnish company said on Tuesday.
The project, led by the R&D division of EDF, will explore low power, wide area (LPWA) wireless technologies and their applications for wireless networking technologies.
The cellular LTE-M and NB-IOT technologies will be the two major technologies to be tested, the companies said.
"The use of IoT devices in industrial networks is in its infancy, but given the expected huge numbers of devices that will be deployed in the future, it is critical that our customers can evaluate now the various technologies before making substantial investments," Nokia said.
