Nokia: technology unit boosts quarterly results

(CercleFinance.com) - Finland's Nokia reported "strong" quarterly results on Thursday as its technology unit benefited from new license agreements and settled arbitrations, sending its stock up over 7%.

The telecom gear maker said non-IFRS net sales were flat at 6.7 billion euros in the fourth quarter, but diluted EPS grew to 0.13 euro from 0.12 euro a year ago.

The company's intellectual property unit booked approximately 210 million euros of "non-recurring" net sales over the quarter, mostly related to catch-up sales.

This resulted in record net sales for Nokia Technologies.

Also, Nokia said its annual dividend would be increased to 0.19 euro from 0.17 euro and is committed to proposing a higher dividend, including in 2018.

Nokia shares jumped 7.2% to over 4.1 euros on the Helsinki stock exchange after these results.
