Nokia: BlackBerry ordered to pay in licence dispute.

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia cheered on Friday an International Chamber of Commerce's ruling that was in favour of the Finnish telecoms gear maker, in a contract dispute with BlackBerry.

The decision confirmed that the Canadian company failed to make certain payments under a patent license agreement between the parties, Nokia said in a statement.

The firm said a significant portion of the amount awarded has already been booked by Nokia in previous financial statements.

The arbitration panel has awarded Nokia approximately 137 million dollars.

Also, Nokia said it still believes that BlackBerry's claims of patent infringement are without merit.

As a reminder, BlackBerry is pursuing patent infringement claims against Nokia via suits filed in both Germany and the US.

In a separate statement, BlackBerry said it "accepted" the ruling of the International Chamber of Commerce International's court of arbitration.
