Nokia: China Unicom to deploy small cell solution.
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia said on Thursday that it will deploy its small cell solution to densify China Unicom's network in 31 provinces, so as to meet data demand.
The Chinese provider will install the Nokia Flexi Zone portfolio to boost 3G and 4G performance where it is not always possible to add macro base stations because of space or cost constraints.
"This agreement extends the long-term cooperation between China Unicom and Nokia," the Finnich telecoms gear maker said in a statement.
China Unicom has seen the number of 4G subscribers increase by approximately 55 million over 2017, reaching a total of over 160 million.
The 31 provinces represent 20% of China Unicom's network.
