Nokia: agreement with Telefonica ahead of 5G.
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has signed an agreement with Telefonica to assess technologies enabling an efficient network evolution to 5G for the Spanish telecoms giant.
Under the deal, Nokia will focus on trials that maximise the use of Telefonica's existing network assets, particularly helping it to meet the demands of Internet of things (IoT).
Nokia says it has created a path to 5G for telecoms operators based on its 4.5G, 4.5G Pro and 4.9G technologies.
5G technology is expected to be deployed worldwide by around 2020.
