Nokia: signs patent agreement with China's Xiaomi.
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has signed business cooperation and patent agreements with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, the Finnish network equipment maker said on Wednesday.
Under the multi-year agreement, Nokia will provide network infrastructure gear to Xiaomi, which also produces TVs and set-top boxes, routers, as well as smart home products under the brand "Mi".
At the same time, Nokia and Xiaomi will work together on optical transport solutions for datacenters, IP routing and will also explore further opportunities in areas such as Internet of Things, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence.
The multi-year agreement includes a cross license to each company's cellular standard essential patents.
Xiaomi has also acquired patent assets from Nokia as part of the transaction.
