Telefonica: could sell its business in Mexico
(CercleFinance.com) - Telefonica, Spain's largest telecommunications company, would like to sell some (or all) of its businesses in Mexico and Central America according to the Spanish newspaper El Economista.
An agreement on these sales could be reached in the coming weeks Aurel BGC reports. The negotiations indeed appear to be in advanced stages.
Telefonica's activities in Mexico are worth between 1.1 billion and 1.9 billion euros and those in Central America around 760 million euros, Aurel BGC says.
Remember that the group's debt has fallen for the fifth quarter in a row, reaching 43.6 billion euros at the end of June 2018 (against 48.5 billion euros last year). However, it remains very high, which has led the group to consider making potential disposals.
