IAG: CEO Willie Walsh to retire this year

(CercleFinance.com) - International Airlines Group's long-time chief executive, Willie Walsh, will retire in June, the airline group said on Thursday.


IAG said Luis Gallego, who is currently Iberia's chief executive, will replace him.

Considered as the real architect behind the successful merger between British Airways and Iberia, that gave bith to IAG, Walsh has spent 15 years at British Airways.

Walsh will stand down from his role and as an IAG board member on 26 March, and will retire on 30 June, IAG said.

The share is currently up 1.1% on the London Stock Exchange.
