Grifols: first-half earnings up 13.5%

(CercleFinance.com) - Higher, although in line, first-half earnings at Spanish healthcare group Grifols have resulted in the shares falling slightly on Wednesday.

The Barcelona-based company said its EBITDA reached 696.8 million euros in the first six months of the year, representing a 13.5% increase over the same period of 2018.

Grifols' gross margin continued to rise, reaching 46.5% in the first half of the year, on revenues of 2.4 billion euros, up 14.3% and up 8.6% at constant currencies.

Grifols, which mainly makes plasma products and which is currently developing a promising treatment against Alzheimer's disease, said that it has also cut its net financial debt to 5.8 billion euros.

The market's reaction was rather lukewarm, however, with the share price currently down 0.6% at 29.2 euros.
