Almirall: to use supercomputer to find new drugs
(CercleFinance.com) - Spanish drugmaker Almirall has entered into a research collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center to develop computational drug designs for dermatological targets.
The "SilicoDerm" project will facilitate the identification of active compounds for the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases, specifically atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, Almirall said.
These new protein-based 3D virtual screening methodologies will enable the study thousands of compounds in a faster and more reliable way than current methodologies, the company said.
