Siemens Gamesa: new wind energy contract in France
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa has announced on Monday that it has won a new contract for the construction and maintenance of a wind farm off the French coast.
The project, awarded by the EDF Renouvelables consortium, has a capacity of 448 MW, will be installed in the English Channel, 10 km from the Normandy coast of Bessin, with commissioning scheduled for 2024, the group said.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 64 wind turbines and will provide services and maintenance on the park for a period of 15 years.
With an order backlog of over one GW in France, Siemens Gamesa plans to open a new plant in Le Havre, aiming to produce the first rotors and nacelles as from next year.
