Siemens Gamesa: wins Australian wind farm contract
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) said on Tuesday that it has been chosen to build a wind complex in Australia that will combine 56 turbines with a battery energy storage system.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens Gamesa will build the entire complex and then maintain it for 25 years.
The facility is expected to be commissioned by August 2019.
Siemens Gamesa said that the wind farm has already secured two power purchase agreements: one with the government of the state of Victoria; and the other with the Australian agri-business Nectar Farms, which will use LED light technology to grow tomatoes in greenhouses.
