Santander: will not pay interim dividend
(CercleFinance.com) - Spanish banking giant Santander has decided to consolidate its dividend from 2020 earnings into a single final dividend, meaning that it will not make an interim payment in November 2020.
As the Covid-19 crisis evolves, the bank is reviewing its pay-out, saying that the final amount will be approved by the board once the full impact of the pandemic is known.
At the same time, the group's executive chairman Ana Botin and chief executive officer José Antonio Alvarez have agreed to reduce their total compensation for 2020 by 50%.
Finally, Santander has created a fund of at least 25 million euros to contribute to the production of medical equipment, protective clothing and other necessary supplies.
