Osram: names new chief for optical semiconductor unit

(CercleFinance.com) - German lighting group Osram has named BMW's Dieter May as chief executive of its sensor technology and optical semiconductor unit, Opto Semiconductors.


Effective as of 1 May, the 53-year-old internationally experienced manager will head the LED division of Osram, which is headquartered in Regensburg, Germany.

Since 2014, May has been in charge of the digital services and business models unit for the BMW Group.

Prior to that, May worked for Nokia, Infineon, Motorola, and IBM.

Osram's opto components can be found in cars, mobile devices, shops, street lamps and projectors.
