Siemens Energy: contract for Tyrrhenian Link project

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Energy has announced that, in consortium with FATA (a subsidiary of the Danieli Group), it has been awarded a contract from Terna for the supply of four converter stations to be delivered by the end of 2028, for the "Tyrrhenian Link" project.

This project aims to enable Sardinia, Sicily and the Italian mainland to exchange electricity in a flexible manner, so that the country can better benefit from renewable energies in the future and close thermal power plants on the two islands.

In this contract, which represents an order volume for Siemens Energy of just under E1bn, the German group will equip the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology for a 970-kilometre long electricity link.
