E.ON: new collaboration project focuses on grid resilience

ON is collaborating with UK utility group Scottish and Southern Electricity and engineering company Costain to develop a system providing resilience and grid stability to network operators.
The German energy group said power networks in Europe are set to change dramatically over the next few years, due to renewable generation and electrification of mobility and heating, requiring investment in infrastructure in order to maintain reliable supply.
Many rural areas are currently supplied by a single electric line, which can result in an above-average number of outages, E.ON said.
The company said it wants to capitalise on an experience in Sweden, where it installed an innovative energy system which can run on up to 100% locally produced renewable energy.
This planned collaboration is set to last four years.
