E.ON: plans biomass power plant near Cologne

ON plans to invest around 110 million euros in the construction of a biomass power plant on a paper mill site provided by Finnish pulp and paper company UPM near to Cologne.
In addition to supplying heat to the Hürth-based paper mill, the plant will also feed renewable energy into the grid, the utility giant said.
The new plant - which is is set to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2022 - is designed for an electrical output of 20 megawatts (MW) and a thermal firing capacity of 87 MW.
The project could create more than 30 new jobs.
