E.ON: management board expanded ahead of innogy deal

(CercleFinance.com) - German utility giant E.
ON said on Wednesday that it has expanded its management board to prepare for the integration of smaller rival innogy.

Effective June 1, the current head of network and renewables businesses Leonhard Birnbaum, 51, will become chief operating officer for the integration, leading the implementation of the transaction with RWE and the acquisition of innogy.

Also, Thomas Konig, 53, will become chief operating officer for the networks and will be responsible for E.ON's entire network business. He currently oversees the company's energy networks in Germany.
