E.ON: starts building power storage facility in West Texas.

(CercleFinance.com) - E.
ON began building a power storage facility in West Texas, as the German utility tries to expand its role in the North American power storage market.

The 20 megawatt (MW) plant based on lithium ion battery systems is intended to help network operator ERCOT to react quickly, and to cope with changes in energy requirements, while enhancing the system's reliability.

The power storage systems will be delivered at the end of 2017.

E.ON's first storage project in Arizona - Iron Horse - already helps to support Tucson Electric Power (TEP) to provide reliable electricity to over 400,000 customers.
