Commerzbank: Qatari shareholders lukewarm on merger
(CercleFinance.com) - The Qatari shareholders of Deutsche Bank appear to be reluctant regarding Deutsche Bank's planned merger with Commerzbank, according to Bloomberg citing closely related sources.
Bloomberg explains that the shareholders would fear a dilution of their stake if Deutsche Bank were to raise equity capital to help finance the merger with Commerzbank.
According to Bloomberg, Qatar, which controls just over 6% of Deutsche Bank, is trying to negotiate other conditions before supporting the project, such as other bilateral operations with Germany in other business sectors.
