Bayer: opens lung disease lab near Boston
(CercleFinance.com) - Bayer is opening a lab near Boston to research new drug candidates to treat chronic lung diseases, the German drugmaker said on Tuesday.
Bayer and its partners Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) today announced the launch of a joint lab that will host scientists from all three parties.
The German company is investing over 30 million dollars alone to fund joint research projects over the next five years.
About 65 million people suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and 3 million die from it each year, making it the third leading cause of death worldwide.
