Bayer: Brazilian court rules in favour of glyphosate
(CercleFinance.com) - A Brazilian court has ruled that the country's growers will continue to have access to glyphosate-based herbicides, Bayer said on Monday.
Unsurprisingly, the German chemicals and health giant welcomed the ruling that was announced yesterday, calling it "very good news."
Last month, a Brazilian judge issued an injunction that could have prohibited the registration and use of glyphosate-based herbicides and several other crop protection products in the country.
Also last month, Monsanto - which is currently integrating Bayer group - has been charged a heavy fine by the US court.
The US company was ordered by a judge in San Francisco to pay 289 million dollars in damages to a gardener who suffered from a cancer after his long-term use of Monsanto's RoundUp herbicide.
