Bayer: to sell certain crop science businesses to BASF.

(CercleFinance.com) - German chemicals and drugs group Bayer has signed an agreement to sell some of its crop science assets to fellow BASF for 5.
9 billion euros, as part of the planned acquisition of Monsanto.

Aware of the need to address certain "overlaps," the group said it has decided to take an active approach to address potential regulatory concerns regarding the transactionn, which is subject to the approval from authorities.

The sale is subject to the successful closing of Bayer's planned acquisition of Monsanto, which the company still aims to close by early 2018.

The assets to be sold generated net sales of approximately 1.3 billion euros in 2016, and have over 1,800 employees.
