Bayer: grants 1st license for herbicide-tolerant sugarbeet.
(CercleFinance.com) - German drug and crop chemical maker Bayer and fellow KWS said on Thursday that they have granted their first license for herbicide-tolerant sugar beet to Belgian seed group SESVanderHave.
The system is supposed to give farmers a new option to facilitate sugar beet cultivation, and make it more flexible in terms of the window for herbicide application, while at the same time being more environmentally compatible.
The technology will initially be available next year - first to farmers in Eastern and Northern Europe - and will then be launched in other key markets, such as Germany, France and Poland as from 2019/2020.
