BASF: invests to produce flavours in China & Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF today announced an investment in a new citral plant at its site in Zhanjiang, China, as well as menthol and linalool plants at its site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

The new plants are expected to come on stream from 2026, BASF said, adding that the investment is driven by the growing demand in the global flavour and fragrance market and its commitment to sustainable processing.

The company believes that the Chinese citral plant will strengthen its position in key growth regions and increase production of a wide range of flavour ingredients and other downstream products worldwide. With this investment, BASF's annual citral capacity will increase to 118,000 metric tonnes.
