BASF: to produce pyrolysis oil with Arcus
(CercleFinance.com) - BASF and ARCUS, a tech company based in Ludwigsburg, Germany, have signed an agreement on the production and supply of pyrolysis oil from mixed plastic waste.
ARCUS plans to start up the first commercial mixed plastic waste pyrolysis plant in Germany.
The supply of pyrolysis oil from mixed plastic waste enables the further expansion of BASF's ChemCyclingTM business.
ARCUS said that thanks to the guaranteed purchase of the oil produced, ARCUS can build further facilities with a larger capacity and thus make a significant contribution to the closure of material cycles with BASF.
Meanwhile, BASF added that the collaboration with ARCUS underlines its commitment to conserving resources by using recycled raw materials in the chemical industry and to support the transition to a circular economy.
The agreement provides for the use of up to 100,000 tonnes of pyrolysis oil per year.
