BASF: new appointment on supervisory board

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF late on Wednesday appointed a key IBM business leader to its supervisory board, saying that the executive will bring his expertise in transforming processes at international companies in Asia.

Bayer said Liming Chen, the current chairman of IBM Greater China, would succeed Palantir CEO Alexander Karp, who resigned at the end of July 2020 ahead of the tech company's IPO.

Before joining IBM in 2015, Chen served as chairman of BP China. Between 1994 and 2008, he held various roles at chemical company Sasol (formerly Condea) in Singapore and China, the German group said.

BASF plans to propose Chen's election to the next annual shareholders' meeting in April 2021, with his mandate set to come to an end in 2024.
