Linde: sells businesses in North and South America
(CercleFinance.com) - Messer and CVC have found an agreement to acquire the majority of Linde's gases business in North America and certain business activities in South America, the companies said on Monday.
The joint venture between industrial gases specialist Messer and private equity fund CVC will be named MG Industries and will operate under the Messer brand, they said.
The purchase price is 3.3 billion dollars (2.8 billion euros).
Last Friday Linde said it was in negotiations with Messer and CVC regarding the sale of businesses in North America in South America in order to allow clearance of its proposed merger with US rival Praxair.
