Lufthansa: more flights to sunny destinations
(CercleFinance.com) - At the weekend Lufthansa announced its intention to increase its offer to southern European destinations in order to meet the recovery in demand for leisure flights.
Given the boom in bookings for the month f October, the German airline has decided to add more than 80 routes from Frankfurt to several sunny cities in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece.
Meanwhile, from Munich, over 50 flights will be added this autumn.
Lufthansa says that Spain remains the most popular destination for holidaymakers, with strong demand for Palma de Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura, Malaga and Seville.
The carrier also reports strong demand for Faro and Madeira (Portugal), Sardinia and Sicily (Italy) and Rhodes (Greece) for the end of October half-term.
Lufthansa also announced on Monday that it will lease four new Airbus A350-900s, a move that should bring its A350 fleet to 21 models by early 2022.
Little impact on the share this morning, however: it is currently down over 1.5% in late-morning trading.
