Lufthansa: best-ever first half results; shares shine.

(CercleFinance.com) - Germany's Lufthansa has reported the best first half-year results in the company's history, with the airline group attributing the performance to further reductions in structural costs.

Lufthansa said total revenues increased by 12% to 17 billion euros in the first six months of 2017, compared to 15 billion euros a year ago.

Group net profit for the first half amounted to 672 million euros, up 56% year-on-year.

In a statement, Lufthansa said the earnings performance is also largely thanks to strong demand.

The company has raised its forecast for 2017 and now expects adjusted EBIT that is above its level last year.

Lufthansa shares were jumping 3.8% at 19.4 euros after these results.
