Volkswagen: invests E10bn in Spain with SEAT
(CercleFinance.com) - The Volkswagen Group and SEAT yesterday announced a 10 billion euro investment in e-mobility in Spain, making it the largest industrial investment ever made in Spain, Volkswagen said.
This 10 billion euro investment will enable the carmakers to electrify their production facilities by creating a battery Gigafactory in Sagunto. This will enable the production of electric vehicles in the plants of Martorell and Pamplona and the creation of a complete ecosystem of suppliers, the company said.
The Gigafactory will have an annual production capacity of 40 GWh, employing over 3,000 people by 2030 and occupying an area of 200 hectares. The site's construction will begin in Q1 2023, with production expected in 2026.
