Volkswagen: group sales drop 17.5% in June
(CercleFinance.com) - German auto giant Volkswagen said on Friday that its worldwide sales declined in June in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Monthly sales dropped 17.5% to 804,100 vehicles, while first-half sales fell 27.4% to 3.9 million cars, the company said in a statement.
Sales fell as volume losses in China added to significant falls in Europe and the US.
VW Group's volume fell by 3.9% in China, the company's biggest market.
In Western Europe, sales fell by 29.9%, while in North America, deliveries dropped 22.8%
Amongst its main brands, the core VW brand saw its sales decrease by 17.6% in June, but the Audi, Skoda and Seat brands also showed significant declines.
