Volkswagen: extends suspension of production
(CercleFinance.com) - The Volkswagen brand is extending the suspension of production at its German plants for another four days, until 9 April, as a result of the continued fall in demand for vehicles, the German carmaker said on Thursday.
Also citing the "challenges" faced by its supply chain, VW said it has submitted an application for an extension of short-time working for a total of 80,000 employees.
Volkswagen said it is working to resume production "as soon as possible."
On a brighter note, almost all the brand's plants have now resumed production in China, where the market seems to be "gradually returning to normal."
To date, there has not been a single case of corona amongst its employees in China, VW noted.
