Volkswagen: names former BMW executive as Audi chief

(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen has named Markus Duesmann as chairman of the management board of its luxury brand Audi on Friday, replacing Bram Schot who was named interim chief last year.

An engineer, Duesmann previously held several managerial positions at BMW.

At its meeting today, the Volkswagen's supervisory board also appointed him as new member of the group's management board.

At the meeting, the board also approved VW's investment plan for 2020 to 2024, which plans to spend nearly 60 billion euros on the future areas of hybridization, electric mobility and digitalization in the next five years.

The German carmaker intends to invest around 33 billion euros of this figure for electric mobility alone.
