Volkswagen: group sales up 10.1% in January

(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen said group vehicle sales rose 10.
1% in January, meaning that the German carmaker had the best start to the year in its history.

Global sales of new cars, SUV and vans rose to 898,700 last month - from 816,100 in January 2017 - the Wolfsburg-based company said in a statement on Friday.

"The Volkswagen Group brands made an excellent start to 2018. There was significant growth in all regions," it said.

VW said 421,500 vehicles were delivered to customers in the Asia-Pacific region alone in January, representing an increase of 14.5%.

Also, the recovery of the Brazilian market led to a double-digit growth of 21.2% in the whole South America region, the company said.
