Volkswagen: group sales up 6.1% in May
(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen group sales rose in May, helped by positive performance in the German carmaker's core markets and its most recent product offensive.
May deliveries, including the premium brand Audi and upmarket car maker Porsche, increased by 6.1% to 953,400 vehicles, VW said on Friday.
In its statement, Volkswagen announced that it sold 416,400 new vehicles in European markets last month, up 5.8%, with a 5.5% rise in Western Europe alone.
It delivered 123,200 vehicles in Germany, up 2%.
Since the beginning of the year, the group has sold over 4.5 million vehicles worldwide - up 7.7%.
