Siemens: presents battery-powered train Mireo Plus B
(CercleFinance.com) - At InnoTrans 2022 - a global trade fair for transport technologies, which will be held in Berlin until 23 September - Siemens Mobility will present its battery-powered train, the Mireo Plus B, to the public for the first time.
These electric trains consist of two 120-seat cars and will be able to run on rail lines with or without overhead power lines thanks to their hybrid battery propulsion.
This technology has already won over the German operator Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Württemberg (SFBW), which has placed an order with Siemens Mobility for 27 Mireo Plus B trains from 2020. Delivery is scheduled between June and December 2023.
The range of the Mireo Plus B in battery mode under real conditions exceeds 80 kilometres, Siemens says, which also specifies that the batteries can be charged on the catenary or by using braking energy.
