Siemens: commissions hydrogen power plant
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens has announced that it has inaugurated and commissioned one of Germany's largest green hydrogen production plants in Wunsiedel, Upper Franconia, hence demonstrating the key role that hydrogen can play in the country's energy future.
The plant, with an electrical capacity of 8.75 megawatts, will generate 1,350 tonnes of hydrogen per year from renewable solar and wind energy in the Wunsiedel energy park and reduce CO2 emissions by about 13,500 tonnes.
Siemens Financial Services is supporting the project financially and holds a 45% stake in the plant's operating company, WUN H2. Talks on expanding the plant's capacity to 17.5 megawatts are already underway.
