Siemens: new London tube trains soon ready
(CercleFinance.com) - Transport for London (TfL) and Siemens Mobility today unveiled the detailed design of the new generation Picadilly line metro.
Starting in 2025, these spacious new trains will serve Piccadilly Line customers, gradually replacing older models that have been tirelessly travelling the line for nearly half a century and which have proven to be both expensive and unreliable.
As the new trains are introduced on the Piccadilly line, the current fleet will be phased out of passenger service and the frequency of peak hour trains will be increased from 24 to 27 trains per hour from mid-2027, or one train every 135 seconds at peak times.
