Siemens: provides motorway catenary for Hessen Land.
(CercleFinance.com) - The Hessen Land district in Germany has ordered a sort of catenary from Siemens which will be installed on a 10 km stretch of the motorway in order for hybrid trucks to circulate there.
It will be a first in Germany. No financial details have been provided.
The equipment will be installed on the federal A5 motorway between the Zeppelinheim and Cargo City Süd interchange, at Frankfurt Airport, and Darmstadt/Weiterstadt. It is due to be commissioned at the end of 2018.
The German industrial conglomerate recalls that in 2012 it had unveiled the concept of "eAutoroute," which is presented as twice as efficient as internal combustion.
