Daimler: begins to transform Berlin site
(CercleFinance.com) - Mercedes-Benz plans to invest between 10 and 99 million euros to transform its plant in Berlin-Marienfelde (Germany) into a campus for the development, testing and launch of pioneering software applications.
The Mercedes-Benz works council and management team in Berlin have reached an agreement that is aimed at securing a sustainable future for this site, which is also the oldest in the global Mercedes-Benz powertrain production network.
Berlin will also become a training and qualification centre for all Mercedes-Benz plants worldwide.
The Mercedes-Benz digital factory campus will play a key role in ensuring the rapid and transparent deployment of software application products across Mercedes-Benz's global production network. Ultimately, the site will cover, inter alia, predictive maintenance for production, based on artificial intelligence.
