Daimler: Mercedes-Benz sales drop in July
(CercleFinance.com) - Daimler's luxury car unit Mercedes-Benz suffered a large drop in volumes last month, suggesting that the threat of new auto tariffs are starting to impact US demand for German cars.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz cars fell 7.9% to 167,518 vehicles in July, as the brand saw sales in the USA fall by 22.7% last month.
Even in Europe, sales were down 13.9% at 65,568 vehicles.
Business fared better in the Asia-Pacific region, where strong demand led to a record of 73,484 units sold in July (+4.6%).
Daimler said Mercedes-Benz's sales rose by 2.3% to 1,356,350 passenger cars in the first seven months of 2018.
