Daimler: targets production of over 3 million Mercedes
(CercleFinance.com) - Daimler aims to expand its production capacity for the Mercedes-Benz brand to over 3 million vehicles, according to Automobilwoche, Aurel BGC reports this morning in its daily research report.
Mercedes-Benz sold 2.4 million vehicles in 2017. Sales volumes rose 9.9%. The German car maker explains that the growth of its car division last year was particularly driven by the new E-Class Saloon and Estate cars, as well its SUV range.
The manufacturer would like to offer 40 models and is considering investing 3 billion euros in 3 new production sites before the end of the decade Automobilwoche says.
Remember that Daimler achieved a net income that is up 24% at 10.9 billion euros, with operating profit growth of 14% to 14.7 billion euros for FY 2017.
The German group's revenues increased by 7% to 164.3 billion euros, for sales volumes that also reached a record, rising 9% to 3.3 million vehicles sold.
For 2018, Daimler aims for a slight increase in sales volume and revenues, as well as operating profit that is similar to that of the previous year.
