Daimler: acquires ridesharing pioneer start-up.
(CercleFinance.com) - Yesterday evening Daimler announced the acquisition of the German door-to-door ridesharing start-up Flinc.
The financial terms of the deal were not specified.
Based in Darmstadt, flinc launched its first service in 2011. It stands out due to its ability to dynamically organise door-to-door ridesharing for short- and medium-haul routes, which can include daily commuting. To date, the start-up has nearly 500,000 people registered for its services.
Flinc will maintain certain autonomy within Daimler and will remain headed by its founders, Klaus Dibbern and Michael Hübl.
