Merck KGaA: appoints deputy CEO
(CercleFinance.com) - The German chemical and pharmaceutical group Merck KGaA yesterday announced the appointment of Belen Garijo, who is currently in charge of its health branch, to the post of Deputy CEO.
A Spanish national, Belen Garijo joined Merck from Sanofi in 2011 as Chief Operating Officer of the company's biopharmaceutical division, before joining Merck's management board in 2015.
Merck has also announced the departure of Udit Batra, who has been head of its life sciences business since 2014, to take up other responsibilities elsewhere.
