Merck: beats consensus in 2nd quarter.

(CercleFinance.com) - Merck reports adjusted (non-GAAP) net profits in the second quarter up 7% to close to 2.
8 billion dollars, representing an EPS of 1.01 dollars, whilst analysts had expected an average of 87 cents.

At 9.9 billion dollars, the American healthcare group's revenue grew by 1% (+2% excluding currency effects), particularly driven by its franchises Keytruda (+180%) and Gardasil/Gardasil 9 (+19%), as well as by animal health (+6%).

Over the whole financial year, Merck's management continues to aim for adjusted EPS of between 3.76 and 3.88 dollars, for a target range which has been tightened and increased to between 39.4 and 40.4 billion dollars.
